Oakmont Golf Club Wedding | Santa Rosa, CA
I’ve been reflecting lately. It’s easy to do when you’re home sick for almost a week. (stupid winter cold!) I’ve been thinking about where I started, where I’m at now, and how I got here. A lot of hard work and determination have been involved. There’s been a lot of learning, growth, emotion and help from loved ones. I’m grateful for it all. This Oakmont Golf Club Wedding from Spring 2016 was special for me. It reminded me of when I first started designing flowers for weddings.
When I first began, I would mostly design for close friends and family members but sometimes also for ‘extended friends’. You know, people who are close to those you love but they aren’t your close friends. So sometimes I would know of the couple, but not be super close with them. We had people in common, but you would not find us all hanging out together on a Saturday evening. Although those weddings were not the most lucrative, they were always comfortable. These people came to me because they trusted me. I never had to earn trust or gain it I just had to keep it.
So when I look at this first photo I’m sharing from Elizabeth and Jose’s Oakmont Golf Club Wedding – I don’t know everyone here. I couldn’t even tell you all the names of the people I do recognize, but there is a lot I could tell you. I could tell you who their older sister is that I graduated high school with. I could name cousins, aunts/uncles, or their best friends from middle school. I remember when the groom was younger and life was a lot tougher. But what I’m happiest to know is that Elizabeth and Jose found each other. That they’re surrounded by a lot of love and support. And that even though life hasn’t been easy, the love they have for each other is so true that it looks effortless.
